CNIC Renewal Made Easier as NADRA Announces Pilot Project

LAHORE — January 2, 2026: NADRA set to launch its pilot project which will facilitate services for the reprint of lost CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) or renewal of CNIC through selected e-Sahulat franchises. 

This initiative falls under the national database and registration authority’s broader strategy to provide “ease of access, outreach and inclusion in the delivery of identity services”, reported Radio Pakistan.

e-Sahuat is a wholly owned subsidiary of NADRA under the NADRA Technologies Limited, and has an extensive network facilitating services nationwide with more than twenty-two thousand franchises. 

Officials have described the project to function as an alternative delivery channel for citizens who have “travel difficulties” and are unable to “use the Pak-ID mobile application due to literacy barriers” or even a lack of access to smartphones, respectively.

During its pilot phase, a designated officer of NADRA will remain present at selective locations to oversee the quality of service. The applicants will have to pay a standard government fee as well as service charges of Rs.100 payable to the franchise. 

According to Dawn, authorities plan to expand the reprinting facility to all of its approximately 9,500 biometric-enabled franchises nationwide, if the pilot project is deemed a success upon completion.
