David E. Kelley and Michelle Pfeiffer Team Up for Apple TV+ Series ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ | Baaghi TV

Santa Monica (The Hollywood Reporter) — February 5, 2026: Veteran television creator David E. Kelley has revealed that his wife, acclaimed actress Michelle Pfeiffer, gave what he described as the “second luckiest yes” of his life by agreeing to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Margo’s Got Money Troubles.

Key Developments:

  • David E. Kelley and Michelle Pfeiffer have collaborated on an Apple TV+ series despite previously avoiding working together professionally.
  • Margo’s Got Money Troubles, based on Rufi Thorpe’s bestselling novel, features an ensemble cast led by Elle Fanning.
  • The eight-episode series will premiere globally on April 15 with a staggered weekly release.

The series was officially unveiled on Tuesday during Apple TV+’s inaugural press event at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, where a teaser, first-look images and a panel discussion were presented. Kelley appeared alongside Pfeiffer, Elle Fanning, Nick Offerman, Thaddea Graham, and author Rufi Thorpe, whose bestselling novel serves as the basis for the adaptation.

Produced in partnership with A24, the eight-episode series stars Fanning as Margo, a college dropout navigating unexpected motherhood, financial strain and unconventional survival strategies. Pfeiffer plays Cheyenne, Margo’s mother, while Offerman portrays her estranged father, a former professional wrestler. The supporting cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, and Lindsey Normington.

Speaking at the panel, Kelley said he was immediately drawn to Thorpe’s novel, citing its originality and depth of character. He added that the casting process unfolded naturally, as many actors had already read and connected with the book. Despite previously saying he would never work with his spouse, Kelley acknowledged that Pfeiffer was the only actor he envisioned for the role.

Pfeiffer, in turn, praised the strength of the writing and said her decision to join the project was driven by the quality of the material, even though her character appears briefly in the original novel. The series marks one of the few professional collaborations between the couple, who married in 1993.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles will premiere globally on April 15, launching with three episodes, followed by weekly releases through May 20 on Apple TV+.
