The United States (US) government is encouraging the arrival of pilots in the US by easing the immigration process for foreign pilots as they classify this profession as the country’s national and strategic interest.

According to the details, the EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) visa serves exactly these professionals with outstanding experience and academic background as a pilot.

The EB-2 NIW grants the right to permanent and legal residence in the US by obtaining a Green Card. Moreover, a foreign pilot can plead for the visa without even needing a job offer in the US.

However, there are some requirements for obtaining the EB-2 NIW. The EB-2 visa is issued for professionals with successful and above average careers, who have been able to demonstrate exceptional ability in their professional segments and, in many cases, through a higher academic background (at least 1 bachelor’s degree).

In order to qualify for the visa, you must b meet at least three (03) of the seven criteria required by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

1. Academic background and diploma related to your area of professional skill;
2. Letters and documents that demonstrate at least 10 years of progressive experience in your professional area;
3. Valid authorization or license to pursue your profession;
4. Evidence that you received above-average market salaries for your professional contributions;
5. Have registration or affiliation in a professional association in your professional area;
6. Documents proving recognition for your achievements and contributions within your professional area;
7. Other evidence that proves exceptional skill in your professional field.

It is also pertinent to mention that not only the EB-2 visa holder, but his/her family is also allowed to live in the US. The spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21 may be permanently admitted to the US.
