My loving brother, Mian Tariq Pervaiz, was my anchor, a thinker. I never felt alone; he was always behind us, supporting us and worrying for us 24/7. He never took things lying down. He was fearless. I have very fond memories of him.
As an elder brother, he had the authority to guide and advise us. In fact, many stories that I know come from him. We grew up under his wings — rocked, bounced, tossed about, and above all, loved. I drove him to far-flung areas, back and forth. We went through a lot together.

During election times, we were often on special, coveted missions. We brokered peace between the Doian Walas and the Boochi clan — two very strong, belligerent groups of the same family who held our family in great esteem. Invariably, whenever they fell out with one another, we would step in to rescue the situation. He was a swashbuckler. Together, we made a team that never swerved or stifled.
We lived in Islamabad for three long years, sharing the same premises. We went hiking, we went to cinemas, and we lived fully. We had fun, we had joy — we truly had seasons in the sun. But all good things come to an end, I suppose — the hard reality of life. We made countless memories in Islamabad, and he openly admitted that those were among the best years of his life.
He was an angel, someone who never burdened his family with unnecessary demands. The vistas and the saga of our lives remain reminiscent of the good times we spent together. He possessed scholastic aptitude and a great appetite for learning. Noble in character, he embodied honour and grace — an epitome of love and compassion.

Whenever necessary, he roared like a lion. He was neither pusillanimous nor timorous. He was someone we always returned to, seeking guidance. His advice meant everything to us. I know I will miss him and his peculiar, broad smile. May he attain the highest place in Jannah.
He was the man who led our family through turbulent times. The most formidable people of our ilaqa stood behind him, yet he never took advantage of that influence. He remained a great proponent of peace. At the height of our glory, he initiated peace talks between the Pagnawalas and us. Because of Allah and his efforts, we continue to live a peaceful life.
He was the custodian of the Akbar family, and his role has been nothing short of legendary. I have yet to know a man of his stature, for I knew him inside out. May he have a higher place in Jannah.

In the early 1970s, when Chaudhry Shujaat was a debutant, my brother took him from village to village despite fierce resistance from the opposition. He was a maverick who never sought the limelight. Whatever we are today, we owe to our brother. Mian Akbar’s legacy continues unimpeded.
He instilled in us the basic principles of life. Alhamdulillah, the family remains unblemished and untarnished, with no skeletons in any closet. He was a humble man who exuded charm through an enthralling personality. He led the family in a fiduciary capacity, never rapacious, never known to swindle or squander what was entrusted to him. That was his character — a man of unquestionable repute, an unsung hero.
Such people never truly die; they only fade away.
Ghaffar Muhammad, Raja Jehlhanzeb, Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Shahid Hussain Samsol, and Mir Iftikhar were among those who remained close to him till the end.
