The duchess, who serves as patron of The Lighthouse, toured the charity’s interim premises as preparations continue for the construction of a permanent headquarters under a wider town centre redevelopment project. The charity is set to move into Albion House, located opposite Woking railway station, while long-term facilities are developed.
During the visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh thanked volunteers assisting with packing and relocation from the charity’s current high street site. She also viewed the new space currently undergoing refurbishment and spoke with architects and engineers involved in the project.

A spokesperson for The Lighthouse said the charity was pleased to update the duchess on progress and outlined how the redevelopment would enhance its ability to support vulnerable people in the community.
