Pakistan will be observing the 98th birth anniversary of former prime minister and the architect of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, i.e., Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (SZAB), on January 5, 2026. SZAB is remembered by everyone for his love and care for the common people.

One can find many people who have stories to share of SZAB and how he resolved people’s problems on a priority basis. He was a man who served Pakistan as a working prime minister, i.e., one who lived among the people as a common servant, accessible to all.

In today’s time, the landscape has changed, but these traits pioneered by SZAB are still followed — perhaps not by many, but truly by a few. Mr. Syed Nasir Shah, currently holding the responsibility of Minister for Local Government and Housing Town Planning under the Sindh government, is one of those few who follow the life mission of his leaders and adopt the way of serving people without any difference, even of constituency. Mr. Shah is following in the footsteps of SZAB’s administrative and human-friendly gestures reflected in the actions of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB). He learned from SMBB that governments are shaped to denote people’s interests, and that governments appoint ministers with authority and autonomy to prioritize people’s interests in the public policy spectrum.

Mr. Shah is a practically youth-inspiring politician because he is trusted by one who himself is a young, energetic leader — Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari — heading the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), a political party which relies on the sense of integrity, accountability, abilities, and capabilities of young parliamentarians like Mr. Nasir Shah. A minister in the Sindh government, he always remains at the forefront when it is time for Pakistan’s integrity and raises the slogan, “Pakistan Hamesha Zindabad.” Therefore, one can find and endorse the point of view that whether it is Rohri, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Islamabad, or Karachi, this minister is easily accessible to anyone, as he tries to contribute towards reducing the magnitude of people’s issues or problems.

Bhuttoism is a flagship notion in the spectrum of national as well as international politics. In the same way, Mr. Shah held political office in 2001 as a district Nazim to resolve the issues of the local people of his constituency. On a larger scale, his honesty, integrity, and wit in politics and administration have remained praiseworthy. He keeps the doors of his house in Karachi open for people who visit him to get their issues heard and problems resolved. Mr. Shah is a highly cultured and honest minister in the Sindh government and is a role model for other ministers in the cabinet to follow in the year 2026, in terms of how he deals with his personal matters of life and his political and official responsibilities.

Today, the souls of SZAB and SMBB would be happy seeing ministers like Mr. Nasir Shah serving the people with the spirit instilled by them. Hence, in return, people joyfully raise the slogan, “Zinda hai Bhutto, Zinda hai” (Bhutto is alive, Bhutto is alive). This slogan by the people is a crystal-clear message that a person is remembered for actions rather than promises.

Today, the people in Sindh are hoping to see ministers in their constituencies with the administrative wit of Mr. Nasir Shah — one who does not become angry with common people while listening to them, but remains calm, with a “Bhutto” smile on his face that, in return, puts a smile on the people’s faces.
