The partnership, supported by the Scouts’ leadership, comes as part of efforts to embed the Centre’s Shaping Us Framework into early learning activities. The framework outlines key social and emotional skills that begin forming in early childhood and play a significant role in shaping behaviour and personal development later in life.

Under the initiative, the badge will primarily focus on the Scouts’ youngest section, known as Squirrels, which includes children aged four to five. Activities aligned with the framework will help children develop skills such as communication, relationship-building, and understanding the world around them.

Unlike traditional awards, the Shaping Us badge will not be limited to children alone. Volunteers, parents, and carers will also be recognised for actively engaging with the framework and supporting the development of these essential skills at home and within Scout activities.

According to the organisers, the partnership reflects the wide reach of the Scouts, which engages nearly half a million young people aged between four and 18 each year. Many Scout activities already involve teamwork, communication, and emotional awareness, and the new badge is intended to formally highlight and strengthen these elements.
