T20 World Cup: Australia’s victorious start to the tournament; South Africa defeated by 5 wickets.
According to reports, some of the strongest teams like the West Indies are defeated, while Australia in the first match of the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup.
In the first match of Group 1 played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Australia won the toss and elected to field first. South Africa scored 118 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated overs.

In reply, Australia achieved the target of 119 runs for the loss of 5 wickets two balls earlier in the 20th over. Earlier, batting first, South Africa scored 118 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
South Africa’s Aiden Merkram was the standout batsman with 40 runs, while Rabada scored 19 and David Miller 16 runs.
For Australia, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood and Adam Zampa took two wickets each while Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins took one wicket each.

In response to the target of 119 runs, the Australian team also faced difficulties, Steven Smith remained prominent by scoring 35 runs, besides them Marcus Stevens scored 24 and Maxwell scored 18 runs.
The Kangaroos achieved the target of 119 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19.4 overs. For South Africa, Enrich Nortz took 2 wickets while Rabada, Maharaj and Tabriz Shamsi took one wicket each.
Keep in mind that in the Super 12 stage, each team will play five matches and in the end, the top 2 teams of Group 1 and Group 2 will qualify for the semi-finals.
