Telangana Introduces Unique ‘Jail Experience’ Service: Pay Rs.2,000 to Spend a Day Behind Bars

India: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Indian state of Telangana has launched a novel facility allowing curious citizens to experience jail life for a fee.

Under the new service, individuals who have never been to prison but are eager to know what life inside feels like can now pay to stay in jail. The charges are set at Rs.2,000 for a full day, while a 12-hour experience has been priced at Rs.1,000.

State officials said the programme is targeted at people with a long-standing curiosity about prison life. Participants will get a taste of routine jail conditions in a controlled and safe environment.

The move has sparked interest as an unconventional tourism-style experience, giving ordinary citizens a glimpse into the realities of incarceration without any criminal record or legal implications.
