US Deputy Secretary Calls on General Bajwa

October 08, 2021: United States (US) Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy R. Sherman, called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, today.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and collaboration in Humanitarian measures in Afghanistan were discussed. COAS said that Pakistan is committed to making all-out efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan and supports an all-inclusive Afghan Government.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS emphasized to maintain meaningful bilateral engagement for an enduring multi domain relationship between the two countries.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghan situation, specially the assistance in successful evacuation operations and pledged to continue working with Pakistan for regional peace, the military media wing said.

Earlier today, Commander Balochistan Corps, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Sarfraz Ali, visited earthquake hit areas of Balochistan to oversee troops taking part in rescue and relief operations in affected areas of Harnai.

According to ISPR, Pakistan army urban search and rescue team busy in speedy rescue and relief efforts at Harnai. Necessary medical care being provided by Army and Frontier Corps doctors & paramedics.
