
Islamabad: Zahir Jaffer, the murderer in the Noor Mukadam case, and Usman Mirza, who tortured and tried to strip a young couple, have been declared fit to stand trial after evaluation by psychologists at the Adiala Jail.
According to reports, Zahir Jaffer’s family, in collusion with drug addiction rehab center Therapy Works, tried to portray him as mentally unfit after he was arrested for Noor Mukadam’s murder. He is to enter a plea against charges of murder, attempted murder, and rape when he goes to court, details state.
A female psychologist and her team, associated with the Adiala Jail through the Punjab Home Department, conducted a series of tests on the culprit and deemed him fit and able to stand trial.
Similarly, Usman Mirza also underwent a psychological evaluation by a team of psychiatrists headed by Dr. Saira Ghazanfar and Dr. Hira Sheikh. Various methods were applied to assess his mental state, and consequently, it was determined that he, too, will be able to stand in court.
It is to be noted that on July 20, 2021, Zahir Jaffer beheaded the victim Noor Mukadam, after murdering her, and Usman Mirza tortured and attempted to strip a young couple. Both were subsequently arrested.
Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, parents of Zahir Jaffer, were also arrested by the authorities for their role in their son’s crime and attempts to cover it up. Those in collusion with Usman Mirza were also arrested.
