According to Baaghi TV, a petition was heard in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the detention of Dr. Amar Jan, leader of the People’s Rights Movement.

The court issued notice to DC Lahore on the application and sought reply within two weeks. The public prosecutor told the court that there were two cases against the petitioner. On which the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, while giving remarks, said that detention cannot be done on the basis of mere cases. The lawyer said that the law is being misused. The petitioner is being subjected to retaliation on political grounds. The court inquired what the petitioner did, to which the lawyer told the court that he was a professor.

The petitioner’s counsel said that the petitioner has been detained for one month on the ground of fear of disturbing public order. The Deputy Commissioner does not have any material to indicate that the petitioner may cause a breach of public order. The petitioner is not involved in any violence or action against state institutions. The court, on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner, quashed the move to detain the petitioner.
