Bandai Namco to change its iconic logo design

Globally popular multinational Japanese video game publishing company Bandai Namco, well known for a large number of multi-million dollar franchises, is changing its iconic red, yellow, and orange logo for a simpler look.

According to reports, much to fan’s dismay, the company will be changing its logo next year, which it states encapsulates the company’s purpose of “fun for all into the future”.

It is of note that Bandai used to be a standalone company, but merged with Namco in 2005 to become Bandai Namco, the result of which was the quintessential red, yellow, and orange logo that gamers know and have grown to love. In a press statement, the company said that the old logo marked the formation of a new company when the two fused. This new logo reflects their new purpose.

The new logo has a simpler, more sleek, and straightforward look, with a pink border shaped like a speech bubble and black text.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this new change has not been well-received by the fans. Fans are neither happy about the change in logo nor the new motto. One fan stated how the company was the latest victim of simplification.

Another has been wondering how could the new logo represent “fun” when its appearance was so boring.

Banai Namco itself is quite excited for the new road ahead, as well as its rebranding and states that it was carefully designed. They also stated that it represented Japan’s manga (Japanese comics) culture, due to its speech bubble shape. Perhaps fans will warm up to it in time.
