Leigh-on-Sea, England: United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Boris Johnson along with opposition party leader Keir Starmer visited the church this Saturday.

According to details, the site marks as the place where lawmaker David Amess was fatally stabbed during his meeting with constituents, hours afterwards he was declared dead and the incident was reported as an act of terrorism.

The shocking news of his murder prompted calls nationwide for reviewing security measures for lawmakers performing constituency work. Amess, 69, a member of the Conservative Party under Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was stabbed several times resulting in his death at around midday Friday at Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea, England.

Suspicion rested on a 25-year-old man after the recovery of a knife as reported by the police and it is believed to be a solo job.

The Metropolitan Police recorded a statement overnight stating , “The early investigation has revealed a potential motivation linked to Islamist extremism.”

The arrested man is believed to be a British national of Somali origin as reported by official sources and the investigation is being led by the UK’s Counter Terrorism Command stated by the police on Friday.

Boris Johnson accompanied by Keir Starmer visited the church which marks Amess’s murder site and left a bouquet of pale roses at the threshold Saturday morning. Home Secretary Priti Patel, whose department oversees counter-terrorism policies in the UK. Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle and Chief Constable Essex Police Ben Julian Harrington also carried flowers to the scene.
