HBL PSL 6: PCB announces an upsetting news for Cricket fans

Lahore, 4th March: The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6) has been postponed.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, PSL 6 has been postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases among the players and officials involved in the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Thursday.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan while addressing a press conference along with Director Medical Dr Sohail and Director Marketing Babar Hamid have confirmed that Pakistan Super League is postponed till new dates.

Wasim Khan said that it is a matter of great disappointment for us that we could not do what we were supposed to do, our first priority now is to send the players home in a healthy manner.

The statement from PCB stated, “Following a meeting with the team owners and considering the health and wellbeing of all participants is paramount, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the Pakistan Super League 6 with immediate effect.”

The decision by the PCB was made after 7 cases were reported in the league, which had started on 20 February.

Everyone agreed in today’s meeting that the league should be postponed. We are confident that the remaining matches of this event will be completed soon.

According to reports, the PCB will focus on the safe and secure passage of all participants and arrange for the repeat PCR tests, vaccines and isolation facilities for the 6 participants.

As per sources, some of the foreign players have started going back to their country. Arrangements are also being made to get officials vaccinated against coronavirus.

Wasim Khan said that we will see the financial loss later, but this loss is of cricket, any work is successful when everyone is on one page. The franchise invested a lot of money and took everyone’s time. It is important to build trust, the real problem will be the availability of players. 

“We will talk to the board of governors and conduct an independent investigation,” said Dr Sohail. “We cannot rule out the possibility of a virus even in the biosecure bubble,” he added.

The difficult decision was made in an emergency meeting between the PSL management and the team owners due to the increasing number of COVID cases. The situation was discussed in the virtual meeting.

Following a virtual meeting between the PCB and the team owners, the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the immediate postponement of the HBL Pakistan Super League 6.
