Myanmar military’s actions invite further disapproval
Washington March 28, 2021 (APP): The Myanmar military has killed another 90 people on Saturday. This is the latest and most deadly in a series of attacks on civilians in the country since the military ousted democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February this year.
The heads of military from various countries including; United States, Britain, Japan and South Korea have condemned this recent bloodshed by the junta, who have exercised the use of lethal force multiple times since the February coup. This latest episode of violence resulted in the killing of 90 civilians protesting for their right to democratic rule.
A joint statement by countries condemning this recent spate of violence read, “A professional military follows international standards for conduct and is responsible for protecting — not harming — the people it serves.” They urged those in power in Myanmar to restore order and reinstall credible leadership in the country.
Other countries who joined in recording their disapproval include, Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
