Pakistan effectively and bravely volunteered to escort the Iranian delegation to the country. Their carrier was led into Pakistani airspace under the cover of F-16s and a number of JF-17 Thunder jets. This was considered a risky undertaking, as any reconciliatory effort could easily be viewed as fragile and vulnerable to disruption by hostile elements seeking to derail mediation efforts.
