Iranian FM Meets Field Marshal in Islamabad to Discuss Resumption of US Talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Islamabad, according to the Iranian embassy, as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to resume negotiations between Iran and the United States.

The meeting comes shortly after Araghchi’s arrival in the Pakistani capital on Friday, where he was warmly received by senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Pakistan’s Foreign Office described the visit as focused on the latest regional developments and joint efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

Sources indicate the discussions centered on facilitating a fresh round of indirect or direct talks between Tehran and Washington, building on previous mediation efforts hosted by Pakistan. Recent high-level contacts, including Munir’s earlier visit to Tehran, have positioned Islamabad as a key diplomatic bridge amid tensions in the Middle East.
