Modi Set for Brief UAE Stopover Ahead of Four-Nation Europe Tour in May

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make a short stopover in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on his way to a four-nation tour of Europe next month, sources said.

The Europe visit, tentatively scheduled for mid-May, will see Modi travelling to Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Italy. The tour is likely to include the India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, where discussions will focus on green energy, innovation, climate cooperation, and regional developments.

Bilateral engagements in the Netherlands are expected to cover trade, technology, semiconductors, water management, and agriculture, while the Italy visit will mark Modi’s first standalone bilateral trip to the country as Prime Minister.

The UAE stopover is still being finalized and comes on the back of intensified high-level exchanges between the two nations. This includes UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to India in January this year and recent visits to the UAE by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in April.

The strong personal chemistry between Prime Minister Modi and President MBZ continues to drive the deepening strategic partnership between India and the UAE, particularly in energy security, defence, trade, investment, and technology.
