Prince Harry Reviewing UK Visit Plans After Police Security Request Rejected | Baaghi TV

Key Developments:

  • Prince Harry is reportedly reconsidering bringing Meghan Markle and their children to the UK after authorities declined his request for taxpayer-funded police protection.
  • The visit was expected to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham and include engagements with charities.
  • The Duke of Sussex is understood to be exploring alternative arrangements, with a final decision on the family’s visit expected in the coming days.

LONDON (BBC) — June 28, 2026: Prince Harry is reportedly reassessing plans to bring his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two children to the United Kingdom after his request for publicly funded police protection during the visit was declined, according to media reports.

The proposed visit would have marked the first time Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet had travelled to the UK with both parents in approximately four years. The family had been expected to spend several days in Britain to attend engagements linked to the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, as well as support charities with which Prince Harry remains associated.

According to reports, Prince Harry’s representatives had formally requested police security for the visit while awaiting the outcome of a review by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), the body responsible for determining security arrangements for members of the Royal Family and other protected individuals.

Media reports stated that the request was declined, meaning taxpayer-funded police protection would not be provided outside official royal residences.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had reportedly accepted an invitation to stay at a royal estate during part of the visit as guests of King Charles III, where official security arrangements would apply. However, for travel and engagements outside royal residences, the family would rely on privately funded security personnel accompanying them from California.

The reported decision has raised uncertainty over whether Meghan and the couple’s children will participate in the visit. According to sources cited by British media, Prince Harry remains keen for the trip to proceed but is reviewing available security arrangements before making a final decision.

The visit was expected to coincide with promotional events marking one year until the Invictus Games, the international sporting competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans founded by Prince Harry in 2014.

In previous interviews, Prince Harry has publicly expressed concerns about the safety of his family while travelling in the United Kingdom following changes to his publicly funded security status after stepping back from royal duties.

Following an earlier court ruling on the matter, Prince Harry told the BBC: “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”

He added: “You know I love my country, I always have done despite what some people in the country have done.”

Those remarks followed his unsuccessful legal challenge seeking restoration of automatic police protection during visits to Britain.

British courts previously ruled that security decisions made by RAVEC were lawful, concluding that Prince Harry would continue to receive security assessments on a case-by-case basis rather than the permanent arrangements provided during his time as a working royal.

Recent media reports indicate that discussions between Prince Harry’s team and relevant authorities continued ahead of the planned visit, although no official announcement has been made regarding any change in the security decision.

Royal commentators note that the proposed visit also carried personal significance, potentially providing another opportunity for Prince Harry to meet members of the Royal Family. His last publicly reported meeting with King Charles III took place in 2025, while the King has not seen his grandchildren in person since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicly commented in detail on the latest reports. A final decision regarding Meghan and the children’s participation in the UK visit is expected before the scheduled engagements begin.
