Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have good relations and thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for visiting Afghanistan.
Everyone is aware of the nature of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. With regard to freedom of expression, it is necessary to differentiate between negative and positive opinions. The honor of the Prophet (S.A.W.) is connected with the honor of all Muslims, he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said, “Thank you for your invitation to visit Kabul. Pakistan and Afghanistan have good relations. In the 60’s, Kabul was considered the best place for tourism. Pakistan-Afghanistan relations have a historical background”.
Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that Pakistan played a positive role in the reconciliation process. Peace in Afghanistan is essential for economic development and positive connectivity in the region. The government and people of Pakistan want peace in Afghanistan. Pakistan’s tribal areas affected in the war on terror, want a ceasefire between the Afghan government and the Taliban. There should be constant communication between Kabul and Islamabad. Despite the peace talks, there is concern over the violence in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that we hope that trade and ties between the two countries will increase. Peace in Afghanistan is in our own interest.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived at the Afghan presidential palace in Kabul. Prime Minister Imran Khan was received by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. The Prime Minister introduced his delegation to the Afghan President. The Afghan President introduced the Prime Minister to his delegation.
A reception was held in honor of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the delegation. A guard of honor was presented to Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Presidential Palace. Prime Minister Imran Khan was greeted by troops of the Afghan Armed Forces. Anthems of both the countries were played at the beginning of the ceremony.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Abdul Razzaq Dawood are also accompanying Prime Minister Imran Khan. Prime Minister Imran Khan is accompanied by DG ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed. Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and Special Representative for Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq are also accompanying him. The Prime Minister and the delegation were received at Kabul Airport by Afghan Foreign Minister Muhammad Hanif Atmar.
During his visit to Afghanistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan will discuss the Afghan peace process and bilateral relations. The Prime Minister is paying a one-day visit at the invitation of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Afghanistan is of a very important nature. The Prime Minister’s visit to Afghanistan will help boost multilateral relations, the first visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Afghanistan since taking over as Prime Minister.
