ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to keep 1st to 8th classes closed till April 28th and 9th to 12th classes closed till April 18th in the Corona-affected districts of the country.

According to reports, a meeting of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) focused on the teaching process in educational institutions, was attended by federal and provincial education and health ministers. During the meeting, important decisions were made regarding the education institutes across Pakistan as well as a review of the status of examinations.

Shafqat Mehmood, Federal Education Minister has said in his media briefing that the classes from 1st to 8th grade will remain closed till 28th April, following which another meeting will be held to review the reopening. Meanwhile, 9th to 12th classes will remain open during April. Students are urged to follow strict SOPs.

Moreover, Shafqat Mehmood said that examinations for 9th to 12th classes will be conducted in the first week of May, meanwhile, online classes will continue. However, universities have been requested to extend the dates for their entrance examinations.

According to reports, the Islamabad Health Department has suggested that the institutions remain closed until Corona virus cases are reduced. Additionally, a meeting will be held to review the SOPs during Ramadan.
