Government officers’ performance and grading reports would be conditional to resolving public complaints. Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has made a strict decision. A notification has been issued by the Prime Minister.

It is becoming a common experience of having unpleasant occurrences with Government officers in many official departments. Some Government employees are not performing their duties but gaining their regular salaries. Many public members raise a concern about the demand for bribes in various departments, where they are forced to pay bribes even for ordinary tasks.
Due to this raising public concern, days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar paid a surprising visit to Government offices in Dera Ghazi Khan, where he took stringent action by dismissing six officers for not being on their duties or neglecting their responsibilities.
It has also been highlighted a classification of Government employees which is called ‘Ghost staff’ which only exists in documents to gain pays but they never have been found on their duties.
Such a dilemma causes an unbearable burden on the national treasure which is directly linked with public tax money. Public servants are employed to serve the public.
It is common practice that most staff’s grading and performance reports are based on their seniors’ views about their job evaluation and appraisal however now it would not be enough for an officer to progress to the next grade without taking consideration of their performance to resolve public complaints.
Hopefully, this development will bring a sense of responsibility and professionalism for the officers.
Prime Minister’s current decision would bring a wave of concern among Government officers, that could drive them to perform at the highest expected level. Potentially It will improve their sense of responsibility and motivate them to serve the public more competently and professionally.
