According to a news agency, Naila Sabri, the wife of Imam and Khatib of Jerusalem Sheikh Ikrama Sabri, said that suddenly several officers of the Israeli CID and police officers entered the house. They ordered Sheikh Ikrima to wear plain clothes so they could arrest him, regardless of his status and age. Two weeks prior, Israeli police had raided our house. She added that the Israeli officials had threatened to arrest anyone who would make statements pertaining to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Quds Net sources say that the arrest of Sheikh Ikrima Sabri was made on the grounds that the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque were to be opened for worshipers.
Al-Aqsa Mosque had been closed to prevent the spread of the corona virus and to protect worshipers from the deadly virus, but authorities had announced the reopening of Al-Aqsa Mosque from May 31st.
