In response to a probe into a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash last month, PIA announced it will ground 150 pilots on charges of obtaining “fake” pilot licenses.

Baaghi TV took the lead in revealing the list of 141 PIA pilots having fake licences. However, it was later learnt that the Ministry of Aviation (MoA) gave a fake list that was revealed and immediately published on Baaghi TV.

After further investigation of the fake list, it was revealed that the MoA under the leadership of Ghulam Sarwar Khan added names of captains who were never a part of Pakistan’s state-run airline. Moreover, there were names of pilots who have retired from PIA and even those pilots who are no more alive.

CAA reluctant to take action against PIA pilots with ‘dubious’ licenses

For instance, the names of Captain Muhammad Salehyar Janjua and his co-pilot Ahmed Mansoor Janjua are given in the list, however, both of these pilots passed away in the Havelian plane crash back in 2016.

According to the reports of Baaghi TV, fingers have started pointing at the merit and credibility of the Ministry of Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
