Pakistan’s national cricket team captain Babar Azam becomes the talk of the town, in India. According to reports, Babar Azam has been included in the eighth-grade syllabus of an Indian textbook. A picture of the book has gone viral on social media.

Babar Azam has been included in the sports curriculum of the eighth class by the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. Along with Babar Azam, there are pictures of Indian players on the pages of the book including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni.

Sharing a page from the book, Sports correspondent Azam Malik tweeted: “In the neighboring country India, national team captain Babar Azam has been made a part of sports syllabus of eighth-grade of Indian schools. Babar Azam’s photo was also published in the eighth-grade sportsbook”. 

Malik added that Babar “Bobby” Azam’s name has been included with other “famous names”.

As seen in the picture, a question has been posed to students to match the cricketers with their nicknames. In Azam’s case, it is “Bobby”. On the other hand, international players including AB de Villiers of South Africa and Chris Gayle of West Indies have been included. 

The mention of Babar Azam’s name in the Indian curriculum shows his increasing popularity worldwide. As the biggest brand of Pakistan cricket, it is great that he is getting recognition even in the country’s traditional rival.
