Danish National Detained Near Indo-Pak Border in Indian Rajasthan’s Sensitive Bikaner District

India: A 40-year-old Danish citizen identified as Rene has been detained by Indian authorities after he was found wandering in a restricted area close to the India-Pakistan international border in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district.

The incident occurred in the Khajuwala area, a high-security zone near the border. Locals spotted the foreign national on Hospital Road and alerted the police, citing the area’s sensitivity.

Rene, who entered India about seven months ago on a one-year tourist visa, was initially questioned in English and appeared cooperative. However, he later stopped responding and reportedly broke down during interrogation, according to officials.

He has been transferred to the Joint Interrogation Centre in Bikaner for detailed questioning by a joint team of local police and the Border Security Force (BSF). Authorities are verifying his passport details and background amid concerns over his presence in the prohibited border zone.

No formal charges have been filed yet, but the case has triggered a security alert in the region. Further investigation is ongoing to determine how he accessed the restricted area and the purpose of his visit there.

Indian security agencies maintain strict protocols in border districts due to their strategic importance. Officials have not commented on any potential links to espionage or other motives at this stage.
