India has suffered setback on diplomatic front despite spending millions of dollars on lobbying in the United States.

The US research organization OpenSecrets and The Indian Express have exposed India’s multi-million-dollar lobbying efforts in the United States.

According to OpenSecrets, India hired multiple lobbyists in 2025 to restore its tarnished reputation.

The Indian government paid the U.S. lobbying firm BGR Group four hundred and fifty thousand dollars in an attempt to restore its diplomatic image.

The Indian Express also revealed India’s lobbying activities in the U.S., reporting that India sought to engage with the Trump administration through lobbying after operation Sindoor. India attempted to propagate misleading narratives about Operation Sindoor to the U.S. administration.

According to The Indian Express, India hired SHW for 1.8 million dollars annually and Mercury Public Affairs for seventy-five thousand dollars quarterly.
