New US Envoy Sergio Gor Lands in Delhi

The new US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, arrived in New Delhi yesterday to assume charge of his post. He is a close associate of President Donald Trump and has also been appointed Special Envoy for South and Central Asia.
Ambassador Gor tweeted from his official X account: “Great to be back in India! Incredible opportunities ahead for our two nations.”
Sergio Gor had visited New Delhi in October 2025 after his nomination as ambassador, where he held meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
His arrival comes at a time when trade tensions between the United States and India are at their peak over issues related to India’s imports of Russian oil and tariffs.
