Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi Celebrates Pakistan Day with Patriotic Zeal

Pakistan Day was commemorated with great patriotic fervour at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi today. Saad Ahmad Warraich, Chargé d’Affaires of Pakistan to India, hoisted the national flag at an impressive ceremony held at the Chancery lawns. Officers and staff of the High Commission, along with their families, attended the event. Messages from the President, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out on the occasion.

In his remarks, Warraich stated that the Lahore Resolution of 23 March 1940 served as a defining moment for the Muslims of the subcontinent, inspiring them to strive for a separate homeland. He noted that under the visionary leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, this aspiration materialized in the creation of Pakistan within just seven years.

Paying tribute to the martyrs of the freedom movement, he emphasized that their sacrifices continue to inspire the nation to safeguard its independence and work tirelessly for progress and prosperity.

The Chargé d’Affaires underscored that history teaches that only those nations remain truly free that are strong enough to defend their sovereignty. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to protect its independence and highlighted the vital role of the armed forces in ensuring national security. He added that Pakistan’s credible deterrence contributes to regional stability and serves as a guarantor of peace in South Asia.

He further stated that sustainable peace between Pakistan and India can only be achieved on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes. In this context, he stressed that a just settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, remains essential.

A special commemorative cake was also cut to mark the occasion.
