Six Injured in Emergency Crash-Landing of IndiaOne Air Charter Plane Near Odisha

A nine-seater charter aircraft operated by IndiaOne Air made an emergency belly landing on open grassland near Jalda in the Raghunathpali area of Sundargarh district this morning, injuring all six people on board.

The flight, a Cessna model with registration VT-KSS, had just departed from Rourkela en route to Bhubaneswar when a technical malfunction occurred mid-flight. The pilot executed a controlled crash-landing on a flat field approximately 10 km from the Rourkela airstrip. Officials credit the crew’s quick decision-making and skillful handling for preventing a more serious accident and ensuring no fatalities.

All six occupants, four passengers and two crew members, including pilots Capt. Naveen Kadanga and Capt. Tarun Srivastava, sustained injuries. Most are described as minor, though one pilot reportedly suffered more serious injuries. The injured were promptly rescued by emergency teams and transported to nearby hospitals, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister B.B. Jena confirmed the details, stating: “One A-1 nine-seater private flight carrying passengers has met with an accident. The passengers have sustained minor injuries and are stable. It took place at Jalda, 10 kilometres from Rourkela. By the grace of God, this is not a major accident.”

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the technical snag. No further details about the passengers have been released.

Authorities have expressed relief that the crew’s actions resulted in a fortunate outcome in what could have been a far more severe incident. Updates are expected as the probe continues.
