TMC MPs Detained in Delhi After Protest Outside Amit Shah’s Office

In New Delhi, the Indian capital, Delhi Police arrested eight Members of Parliament from the opposition party Trinamool Congress (TMC) for protesting outside the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The MPs were demonstrating against the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in West Bengal, which the TMC has described as political vendetta and an attempt to influence the electoral process.

According to details, TMC MPs gathered outside the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday and raised slogans against the central government and investigative agencies. The protesters claimed that the ED and other central agencies are being used to suppress the opposition ahead of the upcoming elections, in order to benefit the ruling party.

Police officials stated that all the arrested MPs were taken to Parliament Street Police Station. Among those arrested were Derek O’Brien, Mahua Moitra, Satabdi Roy, Saket Gokhale, and others.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee reacted strongly to the incident, stating that these actions are part of a politics of fear and intimidation before the elections. She said that her party will continue the struggle against this behavior both politically and at the public level.
