Trump Launches Year Two with Big Claims and Global Clashes

The U.S. President Donald Trump has entered the second year of his second term in office.

Over the past year, Trump’s major actions have included efforts to resolve global conflicts, imposing broad trade tariffs, and conducting military operations against terrorist networks and drug trafficking.

Speaking about his performance over the past year, Donald Trump said: “Today is the first anniversary. It has been an amazing period of time. We have a book that I won’t read to you, but these are the accomplishments of what we have produced, page by page and individual things . I could stand here for a week reading it, and it wouldn’t end.”

Throughout the year, Trump claimed to have resolved eight wars and conflicts.

His most significant achievement was the Gaza peace plan, which ultimately led to a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel in October 2025.

In the nearly four-year war between Russia and Ukraine, Trump also attempted to encourage both sides to reach a peace agreement, and the draft of the U.S. peace framework was reviewed in separate meetings between American officials and the conflicting parties.

In addition, he played an active role in easing tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Iran and Israel, and Thailand and Cambodia.

The U.S. President stated: “We have done more than any other administration in terms of military affairs, conflict resolution, and ending wars.”

Trump also managed to secure unprecedented commitments from NATO member states to increase defense spending in order to restore the alliance and prevent future conflicts.

Alongside these actions, however, his immigration policies were marked by extensive crackdowns.

By deploying National Guard troops to cities, suspending the asylum process, and restricting the entry of migrants from certain African and Asian countries, he halted the acceptance of Afghan refugees and other migrants from developing nations.

Donald Trump said: “We don’t want these people. We already have enough problems, and we don’t want these people in America.”

Trump’s 2025 record also included controversial decisions and stances.

He repeatedly threatened Iran with major military action, and his heavy tariff hikes on various countries drew both domestic and international criticism.

Additionally, his proposal to acquire Greenland under the pretext of U.S. national security provoked negative reactions from Denmark and European allies.

On this matter, Trump said: “We need Greenland for national security and even international security.”

Over the past year, Trump canceled nearly $5 billion in international aid and budgets, made changes in military leadership, and even proposed renaming the U.S. Department of Defense to the “Department of War” to, in his words, strengthen national security and the U.S. military presence in sensitive regions.

He also intensified the fight against drug trafficking by issuing executive orders and conducting operations against drug traffickers, including an arrest order for Nicolás Maduro, the President of Venezuela.
