The official statement by Buckingham Palace read, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.” According to reports, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away “peacefully” at Windsor Castle, at the age of 99 years.
