Press Release by the Karachi Port Trust

Press release of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) reiterated the significance of the dredging of berths and canals in the project. 

In the statement, the trustees mention that the dredging has been one of the top most priorities of the project, given the success rate of the act.

The press release states:

“This fast track dredging operation has enabled KPT to accommodated deeper draft vessels, improve turnaround time, safer berthing alongside berths, reduce demurrage charges and enhance revenue generation in line with the vision of Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaida to facilitate shipping and business community and general public as well.”

It is also to be remembered that the Karachi Port is directed by a Board of Trustees of the Karachi Port Trust, made out of the Chairman and 10 Trustees. The Chairman, who is selected by the Federal Government, is likewise the Chief Executive.
