According to reports, the countries have been embroiled in rivalry in lieu of regional dominance following the killing of Shiite cleric back in 2016 which led to the attack on the office of the Saudi diplomatic mission in Iran. Muhammad bin Salman said in a televised interview with the Middle East Broadcasting Center on Tuesday that Iran is a neighbouring country and we want ‘good relations’ with them. Crown Prince MBS added, “We do not want the situation in Iran to be difficult. On the contrary, we want Iran to develop; and to bring prosperity to the region and the world.”
