In Lahore, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations suspended six officers, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station.
Details state that the suspension came on charges of torturing and detaining a citizen, and a case has been registered against the accused policemen. All six were detained in the same police station.
According to a police spokesman, officials of Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station brought Nawaz, a resident of Mohafiz Town, to Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on September 23 and tortured him after keeping him in custody.
After investigating the incident, DIG Operations suspended six personnel including SHO, Constable Naeem, and Ali Hassan while a case was registered against the suspended personnel and they were remanded in custody.
DIG Operations says that incidents of torture and detention of citizens are not tolerable and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
