Authorities Say Banned Militants’ Audio Aimed at ‘Misleading’ Public

ISLAMABAD – January 6, 2026: Security and intelligence officials are reportedly examining an audio recording attributed to the banned militant leader, Hafiz Gul Bahadur, for authenticity.
Authorities have reiterated that although the audio recording is being examined for authenticity, such propaganda material is released routinely by proscribed factions to “mislead the public” and boost the morale of their followers.

Officials have categorically denied the claims circulating on social media, adding that the purpose behind the dissemination of such false and exaggerated assertions is to further their leadership status, operational strength, and territorial influence. Nonetheless, the writ of the state remains firmly established across Waziristan and surrounding areas, as security agencies continue intelligence-based operations to degrade the capabilities of terrorist networks operating in Pakistan.
The Pakistan military and law enforcement agencies are actively continuing coordinated counterterrorism operations to dismantle militant hideouts and prevent any attempt(s) to regroup. Likewise, authorities have asserted that the dissemination of misleading audio recordings is part of an ongoing disinformation campaign aimed at undermining national security efforts.
