ISLAMABAD (Radio Pakistan) — August 14, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Norwegian companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector as Islamabad seeks to expand economic cooperation with Norway.
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, who called on him in Islamabad. Eide is Norway’s serving foreign minister.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over relations between Pakistan and Norway and stressed the need to increase bilateral trade.

The invitation to Norwegian companies comes as Pakistan continues efforts to attract foreign investment in key economic sectors, including energy. The government has previously identified investment and exploration in the oil and gas sector as areas requiring greater participation from domestic and international investors.
