Special Seminar on Art of Political Interviewing Held at GCU Lahore

LAHORE (Ali Raza/Press Release) — September 24, 2026: The Institute of Media and Communication Studies at Government College University (GCU) Lahore, in collaboration with the Young Journalists Society, organized the second session of the “Meet the Media Maestro Series,” aimed at providing media students with practical insights into the professional media industry.

The series features experienced media professionals who share their knowledge and field experiences with students through interactive lectures and training sessions.

The event was attended by faculty members, including Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Dr. Muneeba Fatima Zahra, Dr. Ali Bahadur, journalist Usman Bhatti, and Ms. Aqdas Waheed.

Senior journalist, anchorperson and political analyst Sohail Warraich delivered a special lecture on the art of political interviewing during the seminar. Drawing on his extensive professional experience, he discussed contemporary political and economic challenges, interview techniques, journalistic ethics and the responsibilities of journalists while conducting political interviews.

Sohail Warraich also responded to questions from students and shared various professional experiences from his career in journalism, including both challenging and memorable moments from the field.

On the occasion, Head of the Department of Media Studies Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Media Department Coordinator Dr. Muneeba Fatima Zahra, and other faculty members welcomed the distinguished guest and highlighted the importance of professional training and practical experience for students pursuing careers in the media industry.

Sohail Warraich responded to questions from students and shared various professional experiences from his career in journalism.

During his visit, Sohail Warraich also met GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Umar Chaudhry, where they discussed the historical significance of Government College University and the life and achievements of Nobel Laureate scientist Dr. Abdus Salam. The Vice Chancellor also briefed the guest about GCU’s historic legacy and its continued commitment to academic excellence.

At the conclusion of the event, Sohail Warraich was presented with a commemorative shield by the Vice Chancellor in recognition of his participation in the session.
