LONDON (BBC) — September 15, 2026: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved their two children to a different school in the UK after security concerns emerged over the practicalities of their daily journey to the school.

Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, had attended the original school for only two days before the change was made. The names of both schools have not been disclosed.

Reports indicate that the family's security arrangements became difficult to manage because of the distance between their home and the school, along with heavy traffic during school-run hours. The security team reportedly considered it difficult to maintain the required arrangements while travelling through congested routes.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said: “The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family's security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.”

The spokesperson added: “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

The couple also expressed gratitude to the teachers and staff at the original school for their care and support.

The development comes as Harry and Meghan face renewed scrutiny over their security arrangements following their return to live in the UK. The Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, known as RAVEC, discussed the couple's circumstances at a meeting last week.

According to ITV News, both Harry and Meghan are set to undergo fresh risk assessments following their move back to Britain. The assessments will be conducted through Risk Management Boards, with Meghan's review being the first of its kind since the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Harry had already undergone a separate risk assessment in July, but that review took place before authorities knew that he would permanently relocate his family to the UK. The latest review will therefore consider the circumstances surrounding the family's new residence and routine.

The security review does not automatically mean that Harry and Meghan will receive increased police protection. ITV reported that RAVEC's decision is to reassess the risks following their change in circumstances.
