ISLAMABAD (Baaghi TV) — August 18, 2026: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered authorities to transfer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical treatment.
The order was issued during the hearing of petitions concerning Khan’s medical treatment. The court directed that he be shifted to the private hospital on the same day and remain there until the next hearing.

During the proceedings, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan questioned whether adequate arrangements could prevent a gathering outside the hospital following Khan’s transfer.

PTI’s legal team assured the court that the party would not use Khan’s medical situation for political activity.
Salman Akram Raja told the court: “Our political principles are different and we will not do politics on health.”
The remarks came as the court considered arrangements for Khan’s transfer and sought assurances regarding security and the functioning of the hospital.
Medical Developments Precede Court Order
The Supreme Court hearing followed a medical report submitted by Adiala Jail authorities on Monday.
The report stated that Khan’s eye condition had improved significantly following treatment and that his vision had returned to “almost normal.”

According to reports, the jail authorities said Khan had received specialist treatment, including care for his eye condition. The report was submitted shortly before the Supreme Court was scheduled to hear his request for treatment at Shifa International Hospital.
PTI, however, had continued to seek Khan’s transfer to Shifa International and treatment under doctors of his choice.
Dr Faisal Sultan, Dr Uzma Khan to Accompany Khan
Under the Supreme Court’s directions, Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Uzma Khan will accompany Imran Khan during his treatment at Shifa International Hospital.
The supplied court proceedings state that the medical expenses will be borne by Khan himself.

In February, a report prepared on the Supreme Court’s direction stated that Khan had reported significantly reduced vision in his right eye. The court subsequently allowed access to his personal physicians at Adiala Jail.
The Islamabad High Court had also previously dealt with a petition seeking Khan’s transfer to Shifa International and ordered the formation of a medical board in March.
The latest Supreme Court order now provides for Khan’s transfer to the hospital while the matter remains before the court.
Authorities will be responsible for implementing the transfer and maintaining security around the hospital without disrupting treatment and access for other patients.
