LAHORE (IMDB/MinuteMirror) — August 28, 2026: The first trailer for IJ: The Secret Parchment, a film adaptation of writer Ishtiaq Ahmed’s popular Inspector Jamshed series, has been released worldwide.
The trailer introduces actor Omair Rana as Inspector Jamshed and gives audiences a glimpse of a mystery involving the Jamshed family, secret investigations and dangerous encounters. The film is scheduled for release in 2027.

The project is based on the Inspector Jamshed detective novels created by Ishtiaq Ahmed, whose literary career included 796 novels, according to the filmmakers. The screen adaptation seeks to retain the central character’s emphasis on intelligence, observation and family while presenting the story in a contemporary setting.
The cast includes Ahad Raza Mir as Behzaad, Faran Tahir as Zafar Iqbal Barkhi, Asif Raza Mir as Khan Rehman, Anoushey Abbasi as Shakeela Begum and Jad Hadid as Sub-Inspector Ikram. The three children of Inspector Jamshed are played by Ravel Imran, Ahmed Harkous and Aline Harkous.

According to the production team, the film was shot at locations across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and involved an international cast and crew. The production also used large-format cameras and Dolby Atmos sound technology.

The filmmakers have also brought international specialists into the action and stunt departments. The production’s team includes stunt director George Kirby, while the Andy Long Stunt Team and action director Amr McGyver worked on the film’s action sequences, according to production information.
Omair Rana, who plays the title character, said Inspector Jamshed is already familiar to readers and that his portrayal focuses on the character’s intelligence and disciplined nature.
The actor said he had attempted to portray Jamshed as an intelligent and disciplined person whose strength comes from observation and reasoning rather than physical force.
Director Fahad Noor said the challenge was to expand the character’s world while retaining the elements that originally made Inspector Jamshed popular with readers.

Screenwriter Eric Berg said the character was being presented for audiences beyond a single country, reflecting the production’s international approach.
The film’s story centres on a mysterious parchment and an investigation involving Inspector Jamshed and his children. The trailer also features Ahad Raza Mir’s character Behzaad, who appears to be connected to the central conflict.
Executive producer Muhammad Adnan Butt said the project aims to bring a character familiar to generations of Pakistani readers to an international audience while acknowledging Ishtiaq Ahmed‘s literary legacy.
IJ: The Secret Parchment is directed by Fahad Noor and produced by Dot Republic Media, CreatorsOne Studios and Walnut Media. The production team has said the film is intended for an international theatrical release before an eventual OTT release. Recent reporting, however, puts the film’s release in 2027.
