It is said that poverty is the mother of all evils. In Pakistan, it has been emerging like wildfire and making Pakistan’s future face many hurdles in its progress to sustainable development.

Poverty is a heinous disease that makes any country incapable to compete in the field of prosperity and progress. It also makes a country incompetent to compete with any country economically. It only pushes the country into a quick-sand; neither that country can rescue itself nor its public from upcoming crises. In Pakistan, it is mounting at an exponential rate and there are no precautionary measures through which the country should be protected and brought on track of development.

In 2020, it ranked 154th on the human development index, its 38 percent population is living with multidimensional poverty. The global multidimensional poverty index noted that comparable with Afghanistan, Pakistan is living in severe poverty.
It has been estimated that Pakistan has a 220 million population in 2021, and its growth rate is 1.95 percent per year, which Increases 5.28 million people per year to its population, it is projected to surpass Indonesia in size around the year 2048. If it remains constant per year and the government of Pakistan could not manage to create more jobs, around half of the population will be constrained to live below the poverty line, which will directly and indirectly adversely impact the prosperity of Pakistan.

In addition to this, the growth of population remains a massive challenge for the country’s progress. According to research, its 60 percent population is below the age of 25, and the birth rate per woman is 3.5, so providing quality education, health facilitates and employment for youth will remain an issue, which cannot be met easily. Pakistan remains worried to control ailments, but it has not even managed to control polio which has been controlled across the globe.

In Pakistan, the literacy rate remains bottomless at 59 percent, the women’s literacy rate is 50 percent in comparison to the male literacy rate of 68 percent. Many students are still not provided with standard education in school and college thereby many of our young graduates remain jobless after their degree and cannot meet both ends. Consequently, they as well contribute to the burgeoning poverty.

Besides, farmers, those who live and serve their whole time to farm, rely on farming. When there is no huge aftermath in the crops, automatically, they will delegate to grow cotton, rice, wheat, and sugarcane. When there is no production of cotton; how industries will run? In the last two decades, cotton production has de-escalated, owing to hostile conditions as shortage of water, pest attacks, and changing of the weather. The current government had better help out such people, especially farmers. When they work enthusiastically, their efforts will bring a lot of change in the field of agriculture. After a huge boon, they will leave no stone unturned to boom the economical condition of the country.

According to the recent weekly report of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, inflation in Pakistan has risen to 12.66 percent. The highest unemployment rate is 16 percent in the educated middle class from 2018 to 2020. It is never mentioned that there must be a relief for middle-class people. Only rich people can survive, no poor can survive at such rising prices of things.

Notwithstanding poverty, there is only rising of rates day-to-day. On every upcoming day, every edible thing has been culminating on the peak. Every forthcoming time is bringing horrifying moment for every poor. Due to inflation, numerous people have been committing suicide for many years. In today’s time, one who is a government employee can feed children as well as a household. Otherwise, a daily wager cannot fulfill all requirements of children with empty hands. Currently, the rate of goods has climaxed on zenith. Prices of livelihood things such as cooking oil, sugar, rice, and flour have reached their peak.

Further, in 2018, the inflation rate had been recorded 3.93 percent, but within three years it has reached 12.66 from 3.93 percent, it has been frightening to daily wage labors those who earn hand to mouth, how can spend their lives in such inflation? On the other hand, before the election, it had been promised by the government with the nation that it will bring down rates of eatable things after coming in power and work to reduce poverty in the country. But it could not succeed to fulfill all promises.

To conclude, the government, as well as the nation, have to work combined to eradicate mushrooming poverty which is a great threat to the future of Pakistan. Especially, our nation has to consider that come what may, we have to make our country free of poverty and evergreen. They have to give their every level best to terminate it. When there will be no poverty, everybody can spend prosperous life, and there will be no crime in the country…
